ResearchKit has managed to hog the limelight ever since its announcement. Not only the medical research community is excited about this new open source framework from Apple, but pharma companies, medical device companies, fitness brands, etc. have also lined up behind ResearchKit. Many were more astonished by the number of participants it attracted within hours of the app launch.

Having caused quite a stir in the consumer space, wearables are already beginning to make their presence and value felt in the workplace too.

Apple, Google, Pebble, Fitbit, Jawbone .. companies that have traditionally focused on wearable technology for the consumer market are now finding business use cases that have the potential to increase employee productivity, drive down costs and add some serious ROI to enterprises. 

But, where there is hype, there are challenges. In an as yet, largely unchartered territory, IT managers have some very hard questions to ask before they can give enterprise wearables the green light.

Lets take a look at what those potential challenges are and if wearables will live up to the hype, and indeed make a splash in the workplace.
